
Introduction to Home Defense Course
This course is designed to introduce students to practical concepts and tactics for protecting their home and loved ones during violent encounters, including home invasions, abductions, and other forcible felonies.
Students will learn best practices for home defense through a combination of classroom instruction and live-fire training. Key topics include:
• Legal considerations and laws regarding home protection and self-defense
• Gun safety and selecting the right firearm for home defense
• Safe storage and strategic placement of firearms in the home
• Understanding the use of force and situational awareness
• Techniques to improve home security and “harden” rooms
• Developing a family emergency plan
• Fundamentals of room clearing, including threshold evaluation and “slicing the pie”
• Basic defensive tactics such as chokehold escapes and wrist releases
The course includes a live-fire session focusing on fundamental pistol skills relevant to home defense scenarios.
Recommended Equipment / What to Bring:
• Pistol with minimum of 3 magazines
• Battle belt or load-bearing setup
• Eye and ear protection
• Minimum of 200 rounds for pistol
• Long sleeves or appropriate range attire
